Christmas Food

Postby Lisetta » Thu Dec 24, 2009 7:36 am

So what food are you looking foward to on Christmas day? Personally I am looking foward to Christmas lunch with salad and coleslaw and brilliant marinaded chicken wings and plenty of rum balls and peppermint balls and assorted sweets for after. I just love how it is a very relaxed meal in a relaxed atmosphere. The second best thing is roast chicken with vegetables however my mother, smart woman, does not cook this until Boxing day. She says that nobody, not even family, is going to make her cook in a hot kitchen on a hot Christmas day

Don't blame her!! Though we will be having the full roast dinner. Can't beat it. Although christmas does give the excuse to buy extra trimmings to the meal. All the extra's, be it white sauce, cranberrie sauce, apple sauce, a more flavoursome stuffing, etc.....

BTW, yorkshire puds. Christmassy or not? I've heard that they are not, but a roast isn't the same without!!

Bacon wrapped around a chipalata?

If so, yes I agree to a degree. Trouble is, I eat them and end up with chronic stomach acid!!

Our work place gives us the choice of a bottle or a turkey. After seeing the turkey prices last year, I opted for a turkey this year.....it is HOOOOGE!!!!!

I had almost forgotten about pigs in blankets. I haven't had those since primary school. I used to love them :D

Being veggie I generally have some kind of pastry construction involving chestnuts - lol. And lots of red wine - lol.

My fave food at xmas is CHEEEEESE!!!!!!!!!!!! I try not to eat much the rest of the year but I totally love cheese and feel I can eat it guilt free, seeing as it's that time of year. :D Oh and my other luxury is butter, I really like cold toast with butter for breakfast.

Yorkshire's aren't Christmassy but eat what you like that's what I say - lol.
