Please don't let Hollywood touch it.

Postby vending machine 9 » Wed May 13, 2009 11:52 am

Was talking about the Smegazine's on another thread and saw this strip, It's a tongue in cheek stab at the way Hollywood sometimes just doesn’t get it and relates to the two god awful pilots they produced.

I would not be surprised if this is spookily close to what happened.

If the movie does ever happen lets hope its put in the hands of say the Sci-fi channel, Channel 4 or Dave (never thought I would say that) who seem to be more in tune with their audiences.

Uploaded the strip below for your enjoyment.

Let this be a reminder to us all that should we forget the mistakes of the past we are doomed to repeat them, doomed I say. [-o<

BTW, Looked around the site regarding acceptable posts, so if the above does not fit into this I won't post anymore scans and ask that the moderators remove it, thanks.

I absolutely agree.
Hollywood will do to Red Dwarf what they did to Hitch Hikers.
Sometimes it's best not to check what you stepped in.

(Shudder) Hitch Hikers. I still can't believe how badly they messed that movie up. If by some horrible chance Red Dwarf ended up with a shoddy Hollywood deal like that then I would rather there was no movie at all.

I must agree there.

And about HH. Never watched the film, but when the adverts for don't reel you in, why bother. Loved the TV series and I have the first book.

I'm just glad no Hollywood producers got their hands on 'Red Dwarf' to make a movie from it. I still remember the story of some American producer suggesting that in order to sell the film they'd need a new cast. His suggestion of Hugh Grant as Lister did not go down well.

I wonder if he was related to the producer on 'Thunderbirds' who asked if they could make one of the Tracey brothers black?
