As you are probably aware, the aggregator we used to automatically pull through the feeds into this site, and then into the Fictionshed site, was a little glitchy…to say the least.
Some weeks it would work fine, the next week, it would create 5 posts for the same with the same information, which the got tweeted out to the world.
We used to use a WordPress plugin called WP-O-Matic, which on paper was a fantastic fantastic plugin, but in reality, it’s a pain in the butt.
We are now trying a new plugin called FeedWordPress.
Essentially, when we upload a new episode to the podbean site, this plugin will check the RSS feed for updates, when there are new posts, it will post them here. I’ve updated the same software on the Fictionshed site, which will aggregate the feeds on this sites, as well as anything on the Eccentricast podbean site, Novo Babylonia podbean site, and Fictionshed podbean site, which is finally aggregated on the Facebook fan page.
If all works as expected, this post should post to twitter (under the RedDwarfForum twitter account), post to Myspace (on the RedDwarfForum page), update the Fictionshed site, which will then post to Twitter (under the Fictionshed twitter account), post to MySpace (on the Fictionshed page), and finally be pulling into Facebook…..
